Derek Van Der Burgh – Head Trainer
Derek started riding at the age of 10 at a friend’s farm in Massachusetts. Quickly getting hooked, he started grooming and managing for Stoneymeade Farm, in Concord, MA, under Joyce Mersereau and Sarah Tyndall. He also worked with Jennifer Tate of Tradewinds Farm. The urge to spend winters in Florida ensued shortly after so he packed up and moved south to Wellington, FL. Derek managed, rode, and taught for a private family who brought him to Belgium for a year to ride and train with Henk Nooren. Derek made the move to Tampa in 2020 after taking a brief hiatus and began teaching at the Tampa Yacht and Country Club. He remained with TYCC until founding his own venture, Bayshore Stables, in January 2022.
